Internet Explorer Share Falls
On The Road Computing reported a couple of months ago on the introduction to Windows customers of Browser Choice, a scheme which prompts users to pick from a variety of internet browsers rather than sticking with the default Internet Explorer. Well, its effects on the browser market have been significant, with IE’s market share dropping to its lowest level in ten years. IE is still the most popular browser, used by 59.95% of surfers, with Mozilla Firefox in second place with 24.59%. Google Chrome (On The Road Computing’s browser of choice) is up to a 6.73% market share, while Apple’s Safari offering and Opera remain in low-level use. IE’s share did grow impressively in April, however. Commentators have speculated that this may have been as a result of new Windows 7 users.
