Libya goes back online
Libya's internet connections are slowly being restored after a six-month government-sponsored blackout.
The Middle Eastern nation's amount of internet traffic had plummeted to almost nothing in March, when leader Colonel Gadaffi switched the country's ISP off in a bid to silence dissenters.
But with the nation's capital Tripoli now under siege by rebels, and the government reportedly losing control, the web is being slowly restored to Libya.
Web company Akamai and search engine giants Google both spotted large spikes in Libyan internet traffic early this week. David Belson, a director at Akamai, said that internet activity had increased fivefold on August 22nd.
