Microsoft unveil Windows 8
A new video released by Microsoft has shown off the next generation of Windows.
Windows 8 is the first version of Windows to be designed for tablet computers as well as desktop and laptop computers.
The new operating system is based on working through one of two interfaces. The first will be a 'traditional' interface, one which uses a similar layout to previous versions of Windows, and the second will be the 'Metro' interface, one specifically designed for tablet platforms.
Windows division president Steven Sinofsky said:
"We re-imagined Windows. From the chipset to the user experience."
Windows also announced its plans to the Windows Store, an online marketplace, to sell downloadable applications.
Windows 8 is due for release next year.
