US Satellites Hacked
Two US Satellites were hacked into, promtping security fears.
Hackers interfered with Landsat-7 and Terra AM-1 observation systems, apparently targeted by computers somewhere in Norway.
The satellites are used to observe things like terrain and climate on Earth, and a report warned that serious risks could have been taken had the satellites possessed "more sensitive functions."
Landsat-7 and Terra AM-1 were hacked into four times between 2007 and 2008.
The report highlights the importance of keeping systems secure. You probably don't own a satellite (alright, the chances of someone reading this and owning a satellite are almost non-existent), but I bet you own a laptop or a PC. These machines aren't so difficult for viruses and spyware to infiltrate, which is why On The Road Computing offers a Virus Removal London service.
