Users Count Cost Of McAfee Error
Security software giant McAfee have released a fix for the problem which hit potentially millions of paying customers worldwide since Wednesday. The glitch, affecting computers which downloaded updates from McAfee automatically, caused its antivirus program to target a harmless Windows file. The problem can manifest itself in an endless and unstoppable loop of Windows restarts, or other boot-up issues. The irony that a program users pay for to protect their computers could actually do more damage than most viruses was not lost on McAfee executive vice president Barry McPherson, who apologised for the problem on his blog. It is yet to become clear how this embarrassing situation will affect McAfee’s popularity among corporate customers, many of whom pay thousands of pounds to protect their company computer systems from viruses. On The Road Computing can solve this problem, so if you are one of the many affected by McAfee’s error then call us on
0208 877 2460 and we will arrange a repair. Finally, consider this news story a caution that just because a piece of software costs money, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s better than the alternatives! AVG Free, Avast and Avira are just three examples of perfectly adequate free antivirus programs.
