Windows 8 beta expected in February
Windows 8 is due for a beta version launch in February 2012, according to sources. Tomshardware.com reports that Read Write Web cites sources close to Microsoft as suggesting the public beta will surface early next year, although engineers haven't yet been able to confirm when the full version will be available.
This month has already seen the news that the Windows 8 installation process will be simplified to as few as 11 clicks (although that will depend on whether there is already an operating system on the machine, and which installation method is chosen).
The current operating system, Windows 7, enjoyed a much better reception than Windows Vista, and Microsoft have promised that 8 will be even more user friendly and reliable. In September, we reported on the release of a video showing off the new operating system, as well as the opening of the Windows Store, an online marketplace.
